Hello normaly I use google to find answers and watch you lot argue from a distance ( no offense ) but this one has me stumped a bit.
Marzocchi describe their 55 CR fork as air positive and coil negative
Ive heard others ( not just the voices in my head !!) describe them as coil with air preload !!??
Any one on here ride with one and help enlighten me please ?
Thankyou kind and generous forum !! ( no throwing stones at the new kid please !! )

I thought the r was coil spring with air preload and the cr was air sprung with negative coil.

Or in simple terms, the r is a coil, the cr is air.

(now throws rocks)

My guess is that R has rebound adjustment and CR has compression and rebound adjustment.

I probably know nowt though.

AER, Air that makes you fly
The advantages of an air system sealed inside the stanchion tube and of a negative coil spring combined into one system: smoothness and lightness. While our competitors use air systems based on two air chambers (positive and negative) we developed a system using a large sized piston sliding directly inside the stanchion tube combined with a negative coil spring.
This means less seals and lower working pressures, so less friction and a super-sensitive feeling especially on the first part of the travel. Air preassure can be quickly adjusted through a single external valve.

SO air "main" , coil negative

from, err, google (and Marzocchi - 2013 model at least)

oops thanks scaredy I only feel a little stupid now ๐Ÿ˜ณ
ho hum ! cough cough !!
Does any one ride with a 55 CR ? Ive got a coil pike on my 456 at minute and fancy trying a bit more travel is why I ask, plus there is a pair of CRs going quite cheep on ebay but Ive never got on with air forks in the past.
Having said that Ive not ridden marzocchi since my old Z3s many moons ago so some up to date feedback would be good.

About to fit a set for a mate this weekend. ask me again saturday evening. he wanted an air fork so we (l) could reduce the travel which is why he ordered the cr rather than the coil sprung r.

Big mistake. A time machine and a tub of copaslip is the best way of dealing with seized pedals, cleats and seatpost.
