Bit late notice (but the stw gurus are always up eh?) but doing this tomorrow. Previously done it clockwise, but is this best, or is it better the other way round.

Hebden Bridge start if that affects it.

Clockwise is best as you have fewer climbs that require walking!

i'm trying to decide whether to do this in a few weeks time, on the local mountain rescue challenge.

the dates are bad so i'd be on my own, has anyone done this event, the information seems limited can anyone confirm from past experience;
are their drink/food stops. is any additional signage up,

48 mile and 2000metres seems the top end of my fitness so i'd prefer to stay on track. I've ridden sections of it around hebden/todmorden/rochdale before

I thought i'd ask on here before emailing them.
any other info greatly appreciated

Only done it anti-clockwise (but have done quite a few bits of it clockwise), suppose it depends if you want short, sharp(ish) uphills and long downhills or long drags uphill with quick downhills.

We did it anticlockwise; shorter sharper climbs, longer steadier descents. Enjoyed it a lot.

Do both and report back.

Tell myself every year I'm going to have a whirl at this. Been nice and dry of late so now's the time.

Whatyadoinsucka, I don't know what the current signage is like, but the main place for navigational problems used to be around Summit.
The main PBW heads south, whereas the MTL branches off west to Watergrove Reservoir. Easy to confuse when you're going clockwise.

thanks @ESME i signed up for the 4th sept, so I'm gonna ride the HB down passed todmorden to rochdale and upto Bacup section of the MT loop on saturday
and then back over to todmordon for a pint and my train home.

I think it is marked with an Acorn logo, so will take care at Summit to go west, and avoid extra miles

I think they alternate.
