He made it onto the podium of the EWS in the pro category last year at the age of 16.

He is now 17 and yesterday at Crankworks he had a 12 second lead in the pro category going into the final stage where he unfortunately suffered a mechanical.

He doesn't race DH but he decided to give it a go at the Fort William World Cup round and he came first in Jr category.

So how good is this guy going to be?

Different league. He'll own enduro before long.

Hopefully, something truly great. And hopefully, someone who could win cross discipline world champs, back to back, year in year out.

Yeh, big shame for Martin. It would have been a win if the chain had stayed on. Check out the video from stage 5 Valloire 2014 simply awesome tallent. Just found the onboard video from Whistler last year ๐Ÿ˜ฏ

Amazing talent I hope he ignores the haters and stays happy and healthy. If he does he will take the sport to a new level.

So how good is this guy going to be?

Fingers crossed for the lad but cycling history is littered with star juniors that didn't deliver at the top level.

And best of all he's Belgian ๐Ÿ™‚

(All be it from the dark side) ๐Ÿ˜‰

His old man was also something special but perhaps pre-dates such opportunities

Some serious stills for a young lad but there's one thing that was bothering me about that Whistler video. Was he riding with his head cocked to one side or was his GoPro on the p!$$ or was it just me? I can't count the number of times I tried moving my head to the right to get a view that wasn't a bit squiffy.

He'll hsve made a lot of the DH crowd take a long hard look at themselves with his win at FW kind of put Enduro into perspective fro a lot of people I expect. Hope to see him do well.

Amazing talent for sure, but sometimes, even often, one big crash kills the head of a rider like that. I hope that doesn't happen.
