In the near future I'm likely to be in San Francisco without the family for a week and it would seem a shame not to spend some time exploring Mt Tam while I'm there 🙂
Unfortunately I don't know the trails in the area and won't have any kit with me.
After a bit of googling I've found this site which offers kit hire and guided tours of the SF area;

Before I send them an enquiry, has anyone on here used them before or can anyone recommend something similar in the area?
Cheers,

No but id say both the city and to a lesser extent Marin are easy to explore solo with a map.
So are the Mt Tam trails waymarked or would local knowledge be useful?
I don't want to spend my precious few hours getting lost, I'd rather pay for a guide if it'll help. But obviously if self guiding is as simple as the Grizedale North Face loop (for example) then I'm happy to sort myself.
Can't say re trails, a while since I rode them. Pretty sure you can get a good map though. Sounds like you want a guide - with a week I'm happy getting a bit lost.
Done exactly this three times now, use Caeser’s Cyclery in San Anselmo each time. They do bike hire (good quality FS’s) and will provide kit if need be. From their shop you can easily get ie ride onto Mt Tam (I did the climb on the Eldridge Grade) and the Tamarncho Trail past Fairfax. If you have a car you can also get to China Camp (has marked trails). They can provide maps (Josh marked one for me with some cheeky stuff) and the necessary permits.
