I've seen a Marin B17 hardtail frame locally, not really for a sale in a dedicated bike shop but a sort of cash converter type of place. How much would be a reasonable price to pay for this as i can only find them as complete bikes. I don't know what the asking price is yet but wanted to go and haggle once i knew what it was worth.
I've been looking for one of those, mine has a cracked headtube, What colour is it ?
I really like mine so would be happy to pay more than most, But from a cash converter type place I would only want to pay £60ish... Although I am sure they will want more like £90
What sort of numpty takes a bike frame into a cash converter? Is is stolen?
This guy "says" he buy job lots at police auctions. He then swaps all the components over on most of the bikes so you would not recognise it if it was once yours. All seems a bit dodge to me but he's been trading for ages.
£60, really!! This is a much less than i was going to pay, the complete bikes are around £6-800. It's silver in colour, not sure what size yet.
I bought a Stumpy FSR 2007 from Cash Generator and I asked the guy about the legal stuff etc (this bike was only £550 and that was in 2007 where rrp was £1500) and he said that the bike is legal, I'll get a receipt and wouldn't get any hassle from the Police or anyone else as I'm the owner now. It was for a friend and she never had any problems after that as well.
Sometimes You can bag a nice bargain there, they checked the name only on that Stumpy and mistaken it with a HT so RRP according to them was £1000, loose cassette, and shock service needed but managed to get £50 discount not too bad for a newish bike 😉 Owner of those couple of cash generators in Edinburgh apparently rides bikes as well and has few carbon Cannondales (according to staff), worth checking every now and then when You are on Leith Walk.
Also the fact that staff don't know much about bikes they would value some RuffTraxx full sus frame at the same price as this Marin 🙂
right i'm off to check it out an see what I can haggle him down too.
If you buy it and get bored with it, I'll but it.
just got back from the shop and he would not sell it to me, said he was saving it for himself and would build it up with parts he gets from the other bikes. Damn, will keep going in though to wear him down. Had a GT Agressor 2.0 for £200 but the parts were not all that.
