Currently running a stock Rock Shox Ario RL on my Speccy Camber and looking for a cheap replacement / spare. Seen a few places offering the Manitou Radium RL for a bargain price and I can't seem to find many reviews online so wondering if anyone here is riding one? Their forks seem to get good reviews so I presume their rear shocks will be adequate for the price?
I'm not after a super-high end rear shock with tons of customisability, Kashmina coating and all the other bells and whistles. I'm also on a tight budget and only ride XC / simple singletrack so an expensive high performance shock is total overkill. I've looked at the Fox RP2 / 23 and RS Monarch series but both seem overly complicated for my requirements (multiple rebound / compression settups and the need to send them off to be 're-tuned' for a specific bike / rider weight).
what's wrong with the ario?
Some oil streaks appearing on the shaft, still keeps air pressure fine though. I don't want to be in a situation where if it suddenly busts there's a long period of down-time trying to get it sorted.
pop the air can off and clean the seals using this as a guide on p133
the service kit from tftuned is £50 so you've not got much to lose!
you could call them and see if they'll do a basic air can seal kit like they do for the monarch.
ive been put off buying a camber comp frameset on the strength (or weakness?)of of the Ario shock alone.
