[Closed] Manc - Telford, route advice (route 55)

Fancy taking a spin down to see family in Telford from Manchester - cycle route 55 appears to offer a majority off-road route [Cycle path Marple to Macc, Macc canal to Congleton, cycle path to Stoke, Trent canal to Stone, bit of road to Stafford then another cyclepath across to Newport and you're nearly there].

Anyone cycled this route or hereabouts? Wondering what the canals are like. Nice and quiet or hopping fishing poles every 3 yards? Decent path or muddy river bank, that sort of thing [the Macc canal part would not be part of route 55].
