[Closed] Magic Mary or Vigilante - which one is less draggy ?

Which one is faster ? (probably just a little)
Both tyres are for 36 quids on CRC now.

Need a rear tyre for Finale Ligure (MM all the time on the front), i have HR2 on the back currently, but in a bad shape.

I'm asking which one is a little less draggy/aggressive, because maybe Magic Mary is a little overkill for the rear one?

Don't know the other one but I also run a Mary up front. You're either very brave, stupid or ridiculously fit if you are going to run one on the rear. Way too draggy in my opinion!

Mary front Vigilante rear here. No way I'd put the Mary on the back!

Not tried either on the back, but would consider the Vigilante.

Would have to be riding DH only to want a Mary on the rear, though I know people who do it on trail bikes.

Vigilante is OK on the back (with a Convict up front). A little slower than DHR2 but seems to give a little more bite on braking.

The vigilante has blown my mind.can,t belive how good it performed at a wet n wild snowy antur stiniog day.
As above there £20 at on one /planetx just avoid the comp version.
I run it up frt but eager to try it on the rear .
29er flavour here .seriusly impressed

Maxxis dhr11 high roller fan normally.
They are heavier mind by nearly 300grams over like for like maxxis .

I'm vigilante from trail boss rear I'm assuming Ligure is sloppy? Otherwise I really like the trail boss.

I had a Rock Razor on the rear in Finale and that was fine, but it was bone dry.

The vigilante is a great tyre. Are they doing it in the tough grippy version in 29er yet? I'd happily run the fast compound on the rear.

I was a proper Maxxis fanboi until I bought a bike fitted with WTB tyres. I'd even bought the Maxxis tyres ready to fit to the new bike, but I thought I'd give the WTB's a try and was surprised at how well they performed. 5 months later and the Maxxis 'replacements are still unfitted.

I run these on my fast wheels:
Vigilante 2.35 light high grip front
Trail Boss 2.25 tough fast rolling rear

and these on my grippy wheels:
Convict 2.5 light high grip front
Vigilante 2.35 light fast rolling rear.

I don't find either set up particularly draggy, but both set ups seem to grip really well.

WTB seem to have got the balance right on overall weight, sidewall strength and compounds and the amount of choice.

What wheel size? WTB are weird about 29ers, some of their models that would be a soft rubber in 26 or 650b are inexplicably hard rubber in 29er, inc the vigilante. Ridiculous decision but it does mean they roll fast for what they are.

Hans dampf or get some tred cutters, buy an MM and take off some or reduce those center knobs.

Went from MM front HD rear combo to Vigilante front and rear about 3 years ago and run them all year round in all conditions,i ride mostly natural tech trails and not much trail centre but do a lot of racing as well never looked back and wouldnt go back, often get Planet X selling the tough high grips for less than £20 per tyre as well.
