Heading down in the morning, is the recommended route still to stay on the M5 past Bridgewater to J25 at Taunton?

Oh its going to be a scorcher:-)

I always go through Bridgwater. Possible heavy thunder storms for Sunday. Hopefully they'll stay away

Minehead - what did you do that was so bad that you've been sent there? 😁

A39 & A358 will be full of slow holiday traffic from mid morning, I'd be surprised if you can average 40mph after leaving the M5.

Are you going to Butlins or somewhere civilized?

If you want scenic, turn left after Bishops Lyd on A358 & go up on to Exmoor via Raleighs cross turn right at  Wheddon cross, you'll be slow through Dunster but your practically in Minehead by then.

The route snaps refers to above is great, far preferable to the A39.

If you're coming down the m5 from the north then I don't see the point of going down to Taunton just to come back up. Minehead gets an unfair reputation. Get away from butlins and the high street and there's some very nice bits, even better out of tourist season.  Amazing riding on the doorstep as well.
