Going to Les Arcs in July and to keep costs down, we are taking 3 bikes, kit and people in one LWB van and leaving it at Luton airport car park - saves paying out twice on 2 separate cars. Anyone had issues with a longer vehicle in such a situation for a week, or am I just being a bit paranoid about some twunt clipping it trying to get away from there tired at 3am? 😉

Are we talking lwb transporter or lwb sprinter. Massive difference

The former is basically a large car. The latter is taking the piss a bit without confirming first .

Probably shorter than a range rover.

Some airports limit which car parks you can park a lwb transporter in. Can’t remember which one but our T6 was over the limit for the standard car park at one airport. It cost a far bit more

Rented a LWB Traffic in La Palma some years back.  It took us about 15 minutes to get it out of the space it was parked in within a multi storey and around the pillars to get it out of the car park.

Standard wheelbase are usually about the size of a current A6 - 5m long and as wide (20cm wider than average cars). The LWB is about 30cm longer. Definitely worth checking with airport parking, or park it in a corner.

Luton Long Stay is pretty generously spaced between rows for manoeuvring, no idea on what is allowed in.

I've parked my XLWB Merc Viano at Stanstead airport mid stay and East Midlands Jet park. No problems what so ever. Although they were not multi story types and mine is classed as a car...

My Volvo XC70 isn't miles shorter than my old LWB T5 and I've left both in several airport long stay/jet parks no problem - probably good advice just to check beforehand but shouldn't really be a problem (I'n not talking multi-storeys tho!)

BHX is very fussy now. Used to get away with a van in the standard multi-storey spaces, but now it isn't worth risking it. The large spaces in the open air car park aren't much more expensive. No idea about Luton though.

I still remember our transfer driver in Nice deciding that his van just needed a but of a runup to get under a 2m high concrete exit

It did not.

Well. That’s the rest of the family wondering why I’m giggling like an idiot. Made my evening. Thank you.
