Steel Ritchey road bike 5 years, Hewitt steel tourer 6 years (now sold), there will be many longer on here!

GT Zaskar here, bought in 1996 and still going strong.
531 Holdsworth tourer as well, bought frameset at a cycle jumble in 1997 for £18.
2002 Sunn Crosss aluminium hardtail, still going strong as a rigid SS.
Fusion 0120, steel. I can't remember how old it is, but I do know that I'd destroyed the entire drivetrain by 1992.
It is now SS and is the bike I ride the most these days, despite having much 'better' bikes.
My SC Juliana is 8 years old.
Still going strong and a lovely ride.

My Santa Cruz Chameleon is pushing on 5 years now! Only original thing left from its first incarnation is the frame mind.
My Coyote HT5 is living on as a commuter which is 8ish years old!

mine's a 97 kona hahanna, though i bought it second hand. it is now my only bike, and i've been riding it for three or four years. and it's steel 🙂
My 1989 Gios went to a new home this year. I bought it new back then, so 21 years.
My oldest bike is a 1958 Raleigh racing bike, hoping to ride Raphas hell of the North on it next year if it goes ahead.
1975 dawes galaxy in my garage, used it last winter.
cant see it getting much more use tho.

Merlin Taiga since 1997 and still going strong. Just been back to USA to have a disc mount added and now waiting for my Alfine 11 to finish the rebuild.

To be fair there weren't a lot of carbon bikes to choose from back in the day and they were megabucks. Same goes for moderately affordable Ti. Very old MTBs were almost all steel so the oldest bikes still around are pretty much bound to be steel.
Ti is 'for life' because of its exceptional carbon footprint, equivalent to ten steel frames, which for most humans is more than a lifetimes supply 🙂

Yeah skidartist, I didn't really expect many carbon bikes. But it is 2010, I was expecting more in the way of ti.
My 2003 Enduro Comp is still going strong, despite the last 4 years of almost daily off road abuse. Paint finish looks distinctly shabby now though.
Got to admit that it's had new wheels, new saddle and drive train, but the rest is original. Even the headset and pivot bearings 😆

My brother still uses my 92' GT Timberline as a commuter.
He's promised to give it back to me when he gets a new bike. 🙂
I've been back on my 04 DMR Switchback since my FS broke. Stiil rocks.
My race bike is a 95 DBR Axis TT. Rebuilt with all new gear a couple of years ago. Definitely a keeper for me, along with my 96 Salsa Ala Carte.
Only recently skipped my original claret red Raliegh Scirroco. Bought for my 16th birthday in Dec 1986, and used pretty much daily for most of this time up until last year when the Reynolds 501 top tube rotted through from turbo trainer sweat.
1958 Claud Butler steel framed road bike. I got the frame for my 12th B'day in 1982 and still commute on it every day. I had to replace the drop outs in 1994 but I still trust it for touring duties in the highlands and islands of Scotland.

1998 Marin Pine Mountain now in commuter guise, carbon fork, 48/34, 11-23, flat bar/barends and slicks. Ridden at least 5 times per week.
Two steel Bontrager Races (one medium, one large) - both ?1997ish vintage (i.e. Santa Cruz built, but post-Trek ownership). Had the medium since 1998 & the large since 2004. There's a fair few [i]proper[/i] (i.e. older) Bontragers still doing the rounds.
1999 sunn purchased in 2000. ride it as xc bike still.
My 1991 Condor Diablo. Filet Brazed Columbus Tubing. T'was my main MTB for years, toured extensively on it, used it for messenger duties, now mainly use it for commuting or long road hauls with cargo, child seat or kiddy trailer. It's never let me down* 🙂
(* Although it has a habit of bonding to seatposts a couple of which have had to be burnt out by framebuilders)
Zaskar from 2000. 10 years as my only bike. Recently downgraded to only my off road commuter and child seat bike, but still gets a couple of outings week. 6061 Al.
Mention should go to the forks, Bombers MX pro from 2003. That's 7 years of abuse and only needed a service last year. From when Bombers ruled.
I've an Orange P7 which is around 13 years old. It was my only mountain bike for several years, then I got a suspension frame so it became my winter only mountain bike and summer hack. Then I got a Turner (which I've had over 5 years) and I used that all year round, so the Orange became a hack bike and commuter for a bit. Until I tried cyclocross on it and did a season of racing on that, when it then became my spare bike for subsequent seasons. It also served me well as my winter commuter, doing over a hundred miles a week on it.
My job has moved, so I'm half thinking of selling it, but it's served me so well that I will hate to part with it.
I have a '98 Kona Caldera in regular use as my main bike; although it's actually got a new frame, forks, wheels, gruppo. It's a bit like Trigger's Broom.
