try using an OS map and piece a ride together, so much to choose from. You need to tell us how hard you want the tech bits, how long the ups/downs, ride length etc

Go onto the monkey spoon site and pick a few descents from the pics on there? Then try to link them up. Granted theres a few good descents not on there, but one place with some good pics to help you choose?

Notable* exceptions being: Blackley Hey/Clough, Bradwell Edge
*Not uber techy, but I think they're fun
Roych Clough and the bottom of Rushop Edge you'd do if you did jacobs ladder anyhow

Any particular reason you have to ride from Hope?

9! How far? perhaps more importantly, how much climbing? 2000m?

Given Cut Gate + Doctors Gate is what, 60km? Whats Cut Gate + Jacobs Ladder (I'm assuming I've followed the right link for 'cut the beast')?

Doctors Gate + Jacobs Ladder would be good too I reckon, though less distance than the other 2

It's an out and back with a bit of a twist but should tick most of the boxes. I've never ridden it all at once or know the distance so can't help out there, but I'd guess option 2 is nearer the 50k mark with option 1 being longer.

I Have done from The Ladybower Inn over Cutgate and back and that was around 27 mile I think, can't really remember to be honest as it was a while ago.

Leave Hope and head up to Fullwood Stile farm, follow the Roman Road, Down the Beast, straight over A57 and up to the top, take trail going right through gate, keep right down to Crookhill Farm, Join A57 and follow to Ladybower Inn, take the trail just after the pub, follow up to the top at Whitestone Lee Tor, make your way around by the wall and down to Fairholmes, do Cutgate out to the cafe for a recharge and retrace back to Fairhomes, cross to the other side of the reservoir and follow the road round, just before the hairpin take the gate and track off to the right, up and over to Lockerbrook Farm, down past Hagg Farm to A57 cross over and back up the Beast.

THEN EITHER

1) Straight over at the top down Jaggers Clough, keep right at the road, make your way up to Hollins Cross via Blacktor Farm, left at the top and first right ending up on Hollowford Road, left at the junction and a nice easy bit of road back to Hope.

2) Retrace steps back down Roman Road.

I wouldn't recommend Cutgate till it's dried out a little though and if you do decide to try it drop me an e-mail, I'll come along if you fancy company.

Carl
