Think I'll give this a go again, seeing as the weather looks good, 17 degrees and sunny, nice 🙂

Will be following the 'Rough Ride Guide' down the River Wey to Guildford then on to the Downs Link and finally the South Downs on to the coast. nothing technical or particularily challenging, just a nice long ride through countryside, a lot of it on tow paths etc. Starting point is the London Eye, total distance will be around 135km or so... will be at a fairly leisurely pace, just aiming to put some miles into legs...

Anyone from London free tomorrow want to come along?

I'm planning to do it with some friends sometime in the next couple of months.

Is this the same route?

if you're passing it around, I'd like a copy as well please. 😆

You should organise this as a day out one weekend. the alternative London to Brighton. Probably get a few takers- I'd be up for a summers day pootle.

Was emailed to me by Ratcatcher of here (or are you referring to another email?)

Ciron, that link isn't working?

Have emailed the pdf to those who asked 🙂

Will do... I'll be doing this a couple of times over the next couple of months, need to get fitter for MM! Shall plan on one being a weekend ride, stay tuned.

Would you mind emailing me a copy of the PDF too? Can't remember if my address is in my profile but inigopete at hotmail dot com if not - thanks!

I'm tempted to join you tomorrow but a) have too much work to do and b) would be on a singlespeed!

Funny it does for me, although it can take a long time to load.

Perhaps try it again later.

it's working now... that looks like pretty much the same route to me, can it be downloaded for a GPS?

Pierre, have emailed you as well 🙂

Final bump for the night, anyone like to join me tomorrow? 🙂

I'm really doing it as a pootle, probably averaging 20km/hr or so, should take around 7-8hrs (with stops for a pint & lunch somewhere). Heading off around 9am, maybe a little earlier, be in Brighton for fish & chips at 5-ish?

I've got a .gpx file for a route like that, Victoria to Hove, not sure if it's exactly the same as the other link, mine goes to guildford which joins up with the Downs Link, can email if anyone's interested - you can put it onto google earth to check the route??

ah that link is for the british heart foundation event route.

there is another way that follows the Wey canal (missing out the hill over the north downs) into Guildford, to join the downs link there (for an even easier, flatter route).

p.s. go around the Tamsin trail in Richmond park (the bhf route doesn't/isn't allowed).

That's the route I'm following (I think)... heading off now, fingers crossed will be in Brighton by around 5pm, mmmm fish and chips...

PS: Assos chamois cream feels frickin weird to put on, and the 'cooling' sensation is downright disturbing (first time user today!) 😆
