Different beasts but I really like the look of both and with a new CTW scheme not too far way I'm getting prepared 8)

Any comments on either would be appreciated + other suggestions along the same lines ie. sub £1K road bike geared/alfine etc. which can take a bit of offroading and preferably UK based.

How about one of these:

Had some great reviews, good spec for the cash and I think they're gorgeous. Just over a grand I think.

I'd love one.

Different, but equally lovely - looks like good value and a bit different too.

The Juicer is lovely but the Cooper T200 Reims is absolutely stunning, even the Tektro's look the business. Cheers

Look really nice don't they?

Just over 21 pounds, so not too heavy.
I'd have to fit some ordinary brake levers and ditch the safety levers though.

It's a real shame that there's no provision for racks and guards - think they've made a mistake there and potentially limited their market - bet there'd be big interest in a Cooper tourer from the CTC types.

Slightly limited frame sizes too.

I cracked the frame on my first Roadrat but always loved it so bought another frame.

Came in horrible tea colour so having got it cheap as there was a chip in the paint I had it powder coated in gunmetal.

Blends nicely into the railings when locked up 😉

V. nice, perfect with the forks and I'm just about to have the same colour on my old Marin.

I'm leaning more towards the shorter version with drop bars at the mo' as I don't have to play in the traffic but the long version would give more options and it's only 30mm difference in t/tube. Have you tried both by any chance?

BTW where did yours crack?

Only tried the long version with a flat bar. I does a very busy London commute everyday so prefer the heads up stance. Running it 44/15 so it's pretty nippy.

The old one cracked on the driveside chainstay.

I still have it. May get it fixed one day!

Wouldn't cost much and you could build a fixed fixie 😉 I used to do Crystal Palace to London Bridge on a commute and I think a fixie would have been spot-on for that but even better in the city or west end.
