Appreciate your opinions on the fastest and lightest wheelset I can buy (new or used) for a mountain bike (26")with £300 to spend. Thinking of a good used pair of Mavic Crossmax SLR, or perhaps a wheelset using Hope or Chris King hubs, Mavic produce so many rims and I don't know the difference between them all, will be used on the road and off road and on hard trails, nothing extreme.
Hope Hoops XC6 are pretty good, around 1450g
I've got a pair of hope xc3s with dtswiss 4.2 rims I was about to sell if of interest. I think they are about 1550g including the rotors. Was looking for about 215 ?
Don't bother with used, when you can buy a Hope wheelset for new.
You should be able to get an American Classic MTB 350 set for that new - come in at about 1500g
