Any recommendations for a light suitable for a 15mile commute?
5 of which are doing a pitch black country road.
Been told I need to look at the rechargables as the cheap battery powered ones will not be sufficent
£50 DX one and good rear LED from someone like cateye? If that' too expensive look at getting a normal cree torch from them torch and using special rechargable batteries so you get a better run time.
If you want to see by rather than be seen by your light then yes, you'll probably want something with it's own battery rather than using aa.
Do a general search on here for lights there are plenty.
These are great for lights to be seen by imo - the rear is stupidly bright and the front is almost good enough to see with.
Wiggle were doing em for £15 but appear to have sold out. http://www.evanscycles.com/products/smart/bspoke-front-and-rear-1-2-watt-led-set-ec017553
And the DX magicshine is great for a light to see with - delivery might take a while though.
B&M dynamo lights (I have an Ixon IQ senso plus, there is a new light called the Cyo light which is even brighter) with a shimano dynamo hub for my similar commute (16 miles, unlit lanes, big hills so quite fast speeds at times).
The perfect thing for commuting, although it was dead expensive (I think almost £150 including the wheel bits, and I did my own wheelbuild). No battery worries ever, it even automatically turns on when it gets dark, you just don't have to think about lights ever.

Hope 1 on the front (heavy but takes AA batteries) and a red led flashing light on the back plus the most luminous jacket you can find!

DX Magicshine I commute for 15miles on Lincolnshires finest unlit roads and it's blimming bright.
