I know its been done to death , but the forum search isn't working so I am asking all knowledgeable folk.

What are you running..?

I am thinking of Hope pro2 hubs ?
stans 355 rims or would flow rims be better ?

Flows if you ride hard, are clumsy, or use 2.2"+ tyres. Crest or 355 if more XC/racey/careful.

I've got stans 355 rims, with their own ZTR hubs, (super comp spokes & alu nipples) which weigh a bit less than the Hopes

nice, light, survived a year of racing/big rides, can't complain at all 🙂

I went Flows on pro 2's - lovely wheels. Some tyres can be a biatch to get on though 😆

Stans Arch's on King Hubs, DT supercomp spokes, brass nips. Not the lightest but a bit stronger for my 90+ kgs. Light wheels make the biggest difference to a 29er IMO. Next time might try ProII 's on Crests.

1100g? hubs weigh the same combined as my tune cannonball/kong and the spokes are the same weight as my xc-rays, and my dt cabon rims are 320g each and come in at 1263g without valves or tape

are the rims sub 250g?

No, they're right around 250g each. Might not have been precisely 1100, maybe 1140 IIRC.

Sam - They look like nice wheels.

I'm going to hopefully be building a 29er some time this year or maybe next year.

1100g?! Damn, my front wheel alone is about that (standard Bonty hub and rim from a Rig 29er).

Sam, are they full on road rims or slightly wider for CX for something?

I'm about to receive my wheels from Goldtec. I went for Stans Arch with Goldtec Pro Competition rear and All Mountain front hubs is a custom colour. I weigh just over 15 stone and want a bit more strength than Crests but didn't want to go as far as Flows so went for Arch which I understand to be the same profile design as Flows but the same width as Crest.

That's what I'm looking at too: Arch seems the best compromise between weight/strength for me, and I've never had an issue with Hope hubs. Only downer for me is the racket the SS freehub makes.

They are basically road rims Matt, but in a 28h drilling. These are the tub version, which given the width and rim concave profile they are is less than ideal for mtb tubs means they have had a tendency to roll off - not good. I do also have a pair of the same rim in a clincher which works extremely well off road and even go up tubeless. If tubs are a must, the Edge/Enve are a similar weight but are wider and have a profile optimised for mtn tubular use.

Can't beat the American classics:
1600g
Awesome hubs
Totally tubeless ready
In stock and only £400.

I keep setting a set aside for my niner demo bike, but they keep selling before I get time to nab them.

BETD built up an 29er Arch on my FSA hub - put a kink in it first ride 🙁 - however after they tweaked it up, it's been perfect since - good rim the Arch 🙂

Yeah it's qr15 compatible. It's something like a tenner upgrade.
Even the skewers are nice. And included.
