Looks a good bit lighter than the Bikehut 1000 lumen and the race mode to change it 2 only 2 modes looks appealing.
Anyone tried one as a helmet light? Wondering if it's still too heavy at 150g but I would rather an all in one solution.
Looks quite big and bulky for a helmet light - and reviews I’ve found suggest it’s not as bright as claimed.
Moon Vortex Pro for around £40 makes a good helmet light I’ve found - fits to a go pro mount with the moon adapter / is relatively light / is quite spotty so combines well with a floody beam on the bars (for me a Bikehut 1600 light or Ryder Alumia 1600).
If it's anything like the Lezyne 1500i I have/had, stay well clear. The usb charging port is held on by 2 tiny solder tabs and nothing else. Mine lasted a month before falling off.
I'll second what joebristol says. The vortex is great. Works really well with the addition GoPro mount
Cheers guys. Moon ordered from Tredz for £35 with mount and remote etc.
Was worried about the 10 modes but they seem to keep the flashing and normal separate with double tap for boost.
I did notice on a review of the updated Lezyne last night on Youtube that you could see right up around the USB port and it was directly on the PCB.
PS also have a Bikehut 1600 for the bars, well 2 actually as at the price they were knocking them out it was rude not to have one as backup in the backpack on longer rides (cheaper than a large external battery type light and more redundancy) or friends can use it.
Was £35 the Vortex or vortex pro? One is 900 lumens whilst the other is 600. I’ve got both but only used the 600 for commuting so far - use the 900 weekly for off road and it’s been perfect for about a year and a half so far.
Same thing happened to 1500i geforce junky. They warrantied it, but seems a design flaw. I was going to make a little plug to support it underneath, out of bluetack or something. Think that will help.
joe - was the pro. Usual £5 off from Tredz.
Had a look at the Lezyne yesterday, much, much smaller than the Bikehut 1000 lumen but looking in the usb port the connector looks fragile.
That’ll be perfect for what you need then. If you use it for commuting at any point it has a good always on but with a pulse mode too.
For night riding it only has 3 or 4 solid on modes to cycle through which isn’t too bad - and if you switch it on it comes back on in the mode you left it in too.
I’ve got a moon 360lx and can’t believe how bright it is. The remote is great, yeah toggles through 4 brightness levels without turning off or flash. A fantastic country lane commute light.
£35 is a bit of a steal with helmet mount and remote too.
