Hi all

I cannot be the only one who has a great deal of left over bike parts lurking around the shed ...we used to have a good ‘carboot’ sale for bike parts in leicester but that died a death. Sooo, I was looking to see if there is enough interest in setting something up, local to Leicester, small charge for a ‘table’ to cover costs - and also an excuse for like minded people to get together to talk bikes !!

What ya think ?

Best

Lee

That would be interesting. I do have a fair few things I would like to get rid of. I don't need more stuff though. Nope. Nothing at all...…..

Sounds like a good idea in principle.

I have stuff accumulating that I’d like shot of...doesn’t everyone?

I ride with a Leicestershire-based group who are known to visit these very pages...sure some of them would fancy it too if big enough numbers to make it worthwhile.

I was just thinking of an informal tabletop sale - we have access to a local church hall, and any proceeds from the table pitches would go straight to the church and charity - just bring a table, your associated bike stuff and we could also organise some cakes and refreshments 👍 I thought about some time in Feb to avoid the post-Xmas depression and inevitable credit card bills....and maybe we’d all be ready to make some extra pennies ready for spring bike messing ?

It's a good idea, my only issue with it as well as being a way to pass on those unwanted parts. It's also a good way to get rid of stolen items.

A few years ago my bike was stolen and a person was caught red handed breaking it down in his home. That person got off as there was no evidence that they'd taken it. When questioned by the police they simply said it was bought from a car boot sale.

Lucky I got most of the more costly parts back.

I live in Leicester and talking to my LBSs there is quite a large market for stolen parts in this area.
