I'd rather enter it, but if you've sold out already... ๐Ÿ˜‰

How many marshals do you need for each event?

we potentially need 8-10 marshals as well as all the people to do the rider sign-on, lap counting, car parking, managing the start/finish area, incident management, first aid, course set-out etc, etc

as I said above no marshals, no racing...

support your local race series or you won't have one

We have people offering to marshal out of goodwill etc

their patience will wear thin after the third one, event 8 and 9 might be taking the proverbial

we would rather have racers marshalling one race a year as that is more sustainable. We can find the people to do the more dedicated jobs such as lap counting/ scoring

its an opportunity for mtbers to prove they are not just about themselves and are prepared to help events happen rather than acting like "consumers", that way supporting annual events like HTN also becomes easier

in what way does supporting HTN become easier if everyone has a go at marshaling Lee Quarry?

Terrahawk
the answer to your question is that other branches of cycling have an estalished culture of volunteering to support events to enable them to happen at low cost. That helps create a extensive calendar. Which in turn means that by marshalling you don't miss the only event of the year

mtbing has not estalished this apart from a few notable exceptions

what we are trying to do is offer a calendar of events that mean if you miss one its not the end of the world, therefore supporting the series through marshalling becomes less onerous and people are therefore more willing to do it at our and other events

anyway if we are wrong we'll find out the hard way
