[Closed] Lee Quarry-Can you make a figure of 8/loop etc (without losing too much height)?

Fancy a quick spin there tomorrow aft but I dont want a stilted couple of runs before getting bored/giving up. Is it possible to ride a loop (dont mind covering the same ground a few times) without dropping height on each loop?

Its it interesting enough still? Or is it more of a sessioning place?

(I need to stay local to Manchester and Rivi is abit same old now).

Try Gisburn Forest. Its big enough to not see anyone outside the carpark, yet it's signposted if you get lost.

You mean within the quarry?

You could play on the skills area for a while, theres not too much height drop there. Or you can turn right instead of going over the cattle grid/bridge and join the fireroad at the top of the first climb and cut the big climb out. There will always be some height drop though.

Is it possible to cut short your ride though and bail back?

went to lee quarry yesterday, the trail was good, but i did the red loop twice and played around on the other tracks, was all over in 2.5 hrs
did i miss something?
plus if you do the red route it dumps you back at the bottom of the hill, and you have to start climbing all over again

Thats what I want to avoid! I dont mind riding the same over again even if it was only say 2miles but it flowed and I could pick/experiment with lines etc.

Forget gisburn, dull as dish water.trails in bad Nick & it does not flow so good. Not ridden Lee quarry this year yet.Ill happily do 3 black 3red. Without a wink of boredom. You can cut out most of the fireroad climb. On the very last section as you cross a wide path rather than following the trail straight ahead, take a right up the wide track, its easily sussed out after one lap.personally I nearly always just do the black as red is a bit to tame but to turn up & not do at least 3 laps is a sin.

Do as I said then, you'll miss out on the last two sections (the section with the two big jumps and the singletrack bit back to the gate) but cut out the big climb. You can then do the new climb if you want or cut that out (you'll be missing some good stuff that way though) and carry on with the original red loop.

The brownbacks races did a figure of 8 without having to do the climb, cuts out the downhill with the rock slabs and jumps. Still a really fun loop but its a shame to miss out that downhill bit ,you could cut across at the gate just before the jumps if you wanted to do the rocky downhill but miss out the big climb.

hora, just go there, ride around a bit, miss out the long climb up by doing what knott4me said so that you can do a couple of loops (with the new stuff in, it's easy to do 2 pretty varied routes for each lap now) and if you manage to leave without enjoying the place then you're beyond help.

lay out is such that you can keep riding 4 of the new sections (berm line, pump line, black line and Leons jumpy line with out losing too much hight, the climb is still a little tough though it is steep and a little tricky in places especially on your 4th or 5th time.

There is a new pumptrack to play on as well now, lots of fun but requires quite a lot of effort.
