Hey,
If you ride around this area and know good trails can you recommend them to me?
I'm based in Nemphlar for the immediate future and am without car. As a result I've been hitting the local trails pretty hard but I'm looking to see if I've missed anything good. I've seen some other tracks through the woods so think I'm not the only one. At present my favourite trails are...
- Clyde Walkway from Kirkfieldbank through the Corehouse Estate up over the bridge and down to New Lanark.
- Walkway down the Mouse Water from Cleghorn to the bottom end of Lanark
- Tinto hill
- A great loop starting at Lambington to the East of Lanark
and thats about it... anything I've missed?
father in law lives opposite tinto hill and i've always fancied it - whats it like?
Awesome - I really recommend doing it.
Its a pain to get to the top - some riding, a lot of hike-a-bike. However the descent from the top is one of the best I know. We usually go straight up and down from/to the carpark on the North side, I've never descended on the steeper south side into Wiston.
Out by the loch and down across the road from the Equestrian place, big loop down by New Lanark follow the Clyde Walkway down. Bigger routes, down the walkway to Crossford and join the Nethan Gorge walkway, plenty of bits around there to explore up Craignethan castle etc. Also further down the walkway can go down to Chatelerault
I used to go to lamington primary and our one trip a year was 7 miles along the road and up tinto have our lunch then back down. Might have to venture over the dalveen and have a ride up it and put a stone on the pile at the top
shall give tinto a bash then. ace!
There's stuff in the hills the back of Coulter, be a bit further away if you were cycling out there from lanark, so not sure if it is worth it.
Did a circuit of Cowgill - baitlaws - hardrig then back down Duncan Gill which was good - massive windfarm development at the top of Hardrig though.
Only time in Scotland I've been told to GTF off the land that ride - a shepherd told me to do one at Bleakfield.
Thanks for all the input guys.
If someone else has any more suggestions then please let me know.
