I am the new Cycling Development Officer for East Hants. My job is to get people on bikes.Currently I am looking for people to sign up for a course beginning on Tuesday 21st at Rowlands Castle Recreation ground. It is aimed at people who havent cycled for a while or who wish to take up cycling. The course lasts 8 weeks (10-12 each tuesday) and is available to residents of East Hampshire for £24 only.
Do you know anyone who could benefit? If so, please contact me on 07775595998 or sarah.walker@ctc.org.uk

10-12 each tuesday? Isnt that making it impossible for anyone with a job?

That was my problem with the CTC stuff before, meant either time off work, or having to work/live right by the ride or both. Nice idea, needs a bit more thought tho.

mmm, on reflection I didnt mean to sound quite so negative, your obviously trying to promote cycling and thats good.

But the timing does leave a little to be desired.

Seems a fair enough point, though Tinsy. Are evening sessions possible?

again, really not trying to be negative, but if i were looking to "take up cycling" activly, and not just "end up riding my bike when before i didnt" im not sure i would feel the need to go on a course to tell me how to do it?
what does the course cover in 16hrs of training?

i suppose im coming at it from the "natural cyclist" viewpoint, not the, "non cyclist, who thinks it looks like a sensible and economicaly a good idea, but doesnt have the foggiest to start when it comes to anythying, from bike purchase to road use and maintanence"

an evening class would certainly be better, and if in a town area, it coule be timed so commuters can go on thier way home?

sorry to be not very helpful, good luck Mrs W

There are lots of people on here that could do with learning how to ride their bikes.

It does definitely rule out anyone apart from those who work flexitime (and even most of them) and those who are unemployed. Nothing on earth would convince me to sacrifice my holiday time to do a cycling course.
