[Closed] Knee injury - running differing crank lengths

I am suffering from a thigh injury which is limiting the amount I can bend my left knee.

I can pedal a bike fitted with kiddie cranks (120mm) on both sides but the bike I've set up isn't that practical (my summer touring bike with no lights fitted).

I am now wondering about fitting a kiddle crank to the left-hand side of my hub-geared commuting bike, with a normal 175mm crank on the right hand side (to avoid changing the chain length etc).
Will this work or will it unbalance me completely? Anyone have any experience?

I should be better in a couple of weeks so there is no need to invest in some of the more complex solutions that exist.

Thanks!

No experience other than being one of those people who are sensitive to changes in crank length. My thought it just wait two weeks.

I've shortened a few cranks for folk with various uni-lateral problems such as arthritis, knee flexion problems after injury (similar to your issue). Everyone has been very happy with the result so far. One gradually moved to longer and longer cranks as the injury resolved.
No one reported other issues as a result but every individual and situation is different, it will obviously change biomechanics at the hip and ankle as well as the knee.

Give it a try.
I read an article about a gut who rides the big climbs in Europe and he has only has one arm and one leg.
If it doesn't work, at least you tried.
