I have a chain to fit. I'm happy with the chain around the largest cog & ring + 2 rivets approach but I've been playing with a length calculator. It's easy just to cut away spare links as long as you know the starting length.
So, KMC spare chain states 114 links. Does anyone know if that's with or without the 'missing link' connector (which obviously counts as a link).
You could have counted the links in the time it took you to post 🙂

Doesn't help with "is my chain 113.5 or 114.5 links?" though
If it's for an FS bike then the answer is arguably not a chain calculator anyway (unless it knows all the geometry and axle paths) you need to check length at maximum extension. That's just past half travel on my bike iirc and one extra link over unsagged.

It's a hardtail. Probably easiest to stick with the big cog & big ring + 2 riets.
Links count in pairs. Inner and outer links. 114 is an even number so would include the inner links of one end and the quick link as an outer. If they didn't count the quick link, your chain would be listed as 113 links.
You have 113 continuous links if chain, plus one quick link to make 114.
Hang on. Who the hell counts links.
Put it on pull the ends together and past each other to identify the break location. Use the chain hook tool to hold the chain together. Break the chain fit the link
