I'm not overly concerned about it

I'll just keep riding until I either finish, I can't go on any further or they make me stop
No big deal whichever way it pans out

last 40 miles is the same, the last climb up to the boardwalk is brutal, although not massively long, they'll be a lot of walkers at that point!

***although its worth mentioning that Simon, the bloke who plans the course is definitely changing it, he's been out with the FC (who he works for) to get the go ahead for new sections of 'off piste' stuff and the word is its harder than last year

I finished it with naff all preparation (really) while, probably, in the midst of an asthma 'episode.

It's not that hard. Well, it wasn't last year ๐Ÿ™‚

Well, my training officially started today. Well, I commuted on the bike so that is the first 10 miles in the bag, another 10 miles home and it will have been about 1300 feet of climbing.
OK, it will all have been on road and a third of the climbing per mile, but I gotta start somewhere!
Nearly a 14 mph average so am fairly happy for a first run, just needs to translate into an 8 mph average off road over the next 88 days, thats all...

Nice. Just over 11,000ft of climbing in the FIRST 60 miles of the Kielder 100.

I read that and had dreams of the last 40 miles being downhill!

I've put a thread up about a ride on June 20th at Kielder by the way. Make it official and spread the word.

Warton, what time you starting the Cyclone, drop me an email if you fancy meating up bayley.jon @ gmail.com

I'll be starting early (registering on Friday) and aiming for 6-6.5 hours unless I can find some people to work with.

So the guy who did 60 miles did ~11,000' of climbing & so did the guy who did 100 miles ๐Ÿ˜•

I guess the GPS units suffered a bit under the trees

Yup Uplink there's another who finished did 12,500 feet.

If they had clicker the Elevation Correction on their routes it would give a true reading.

A pint of beetroot juice every day for the week before and you'll be fine ๐Ÿ™‚
