Hi All the other half's son wants to start getting out with me on the bikes, but we are in a bit of a quandry on what to buy him. he really only sees videos of decents and the likes and fancys that .
Hes Ace on BMX and Scooters down the parks, so i was thinking perhaps get him a jump bike and take him to chicksands and the like and he can also use that in the skatepark. But my head tells me get him somekind of half decent hardtail to start having fun on as its more versitile. The question is what - hes 12 and 5 foot so im leaning towards a 26" bike with small frame but what ? what worked for you and your brood many thanks in advance

Budget?
Budget 350-400 i'd guess dont want too spend too much straight away as he may not enjoy it and will likely outgrow it quickly. If he gets on with it id happily get something better allong the way. Idealy id like to pick something up 2nd hand he can crash without me wincing too much !!
I think a 4x or jump bike is the way forward, scouring ebay and the classifieds at the moment
