in the gloop and slop, anyone have any great ideas to keep the mechanism free of grit and working?

Stretch a section of old innertube over the seatclamp.

just a dob of grease (tiny)...I've never had any trouble with clamps getting loose...

although nowerdays I use bolt clamps - you're taking a trail tool anyway and unless you're racing (in which case why are you adjusting the saddle) it only takes two ticks to adjust...

Get a Gravity Dropper then you don't have to keep undoing and doing it up.

lol - yes i have.

Mudguard helps tj but inner tube seems a better prospect.
