On-one / Planet-X don't have any in stock and I missed the boat but at £99 for the frame it was a bargain.

Is there anything similar out there for similar money? Want to build a comfy all weather / winter / touring / multi use and abuse road bike.

I don't think there's anything as cheap. Uncle John too dear? Beyond that it gets more pricey I think - roadrat, >X<, Kinesis Tripster.

You could buy a Pompetamine and bodge gears on it like me 😎

Uncle John is the same problem of no stock 🙁

I like the Ribble and it's tempting me.

Hmmm that's quite different, rim brakes, not really up to off road IMO.

The Kaf is great as a communter, but if I changed mine, I would want discs, the only problem with this, is the big increase in price, like the Tripster or Salsa Vaya. The Vaya is designed exactly for this (tour/ fireroad/ mulit use) , also, with the Kaf, you are more limted on the tire size than a Vaya.

Reason for this is:
I have an old Ribble that's made from Reynolds 653. I bought it 2nd hand as a second bike It's all right but it's too big for me. So I don't ride it ever.

It just sits on the Turbo, it will have been a good(ish) bike in it's time 8 speed 105 stuff and Mavic wheels.

I just thought that if I got a cheap frame in a size to fit, get some guards on it I could use it as a more everyday bike. My road bike (Shiny Carbon Dolan) is covered in mud and grit from winter riding and it just seems wrong.

Canti's was purely because I have some lying around but I've got normal old road brakes as well.

The main attraction of the Kaffenabck was steel and price.
