So unsurprisingly my nearly 9yo daughter has out grown her Islabikes Beinn 20 large. I guess the next natural step would be to go for a 24" but I'd rather, if possible, build her a 26er, she's relatively tall for her age and has a 68cm (nearly 27") standover. Can I get her a small 26er frame given her size?
Both my girls started riding 14" 26ers when they were 8/9. Few probs reaching the floor sometimes (!) but the benefits, especially in terms of covering ground more quickly and in more comfort far outweighed any disadvantages.
Or use a 26" frame with 24" wheels?
Whatever you do, don't be tempted by the 'she'll grow into it' theory - all you'll do is put her off by having a bike that's too big.
My youngest is still on 24" wheels and he's 12 - and the elder two are back on 24" wheels, with their 'jump' bikes...
