....my riding buddies seem to have vanished - although my brother's wating for a new bike so he might be good to go - so I'm probably looking at travelling on my own, and joining a group out there with a guide, or something like that.

Anybody done this before on their own? Any companies to recommend? Would like something a bit more downhilly / the fun parts orientated.

Or, is anyone else up for it?

When are you thinking about going? How long for? How old?

Summer sometime. Probably a week, depending on funds/holiday remaining. I'm 32. Yourself?

The beard makes me look older. You'd never guess, but it's fake.

Budget? Think we'r doing a fortnight for £500.. before food/insurance but thats flights, accomodation, transfer and lift passes.

Theres a holidays post on SDH which seems good for this.

We might have space- but waiting on confirmation from 2 out of 4!

Don't be afraid to go by yourself. I went out to Spain with a bike holiday company on my Jack Jones.

I got grouped in with a group of three lads and we've become really good friends since. We did the Alps together this year and have done numerous UK holidays too.

Cool. Done a couple of mountaineering trips in the Alps on my own then met with the group out there, so not too fussed about that bit. At least you're all there for the same reason.

go and book the holiday!
Did it last summer, would go out there again on my own but only if I was joining a group with a guide.
I'll probably try and go along the same time as the people I met up with last summer… As chakaping said, you'll get some more friends that way!

We get lots of lone travellers heaading our way - they always seem to fit right in with people around at the time. I think if you're the sort of person brave enough to book a week by yourself, then you wont have a problem being brave enough to make some new friends. Mountain biking is a pretty social sport - specially when you get to sit in a gondola and yak away on the way back up!
go for it - you'll meet plenty of people

Sod the Alps, it's covered in snow 😉

Get down here to the south of Spain with one of the trail companies right now. I did about 2000m of descending this morning, some with spanishbarry - it was rocky, dusty and technical.

Full of Awesome.
