Gonna try and do 50 miles on the road. Will be the first time I've ridden that far. The route I have mapped out is 53.5 miles.
Looking forward to it.

The long drive up to Hamsterley Forest to do the XC in the morning then a bit of uplifted fun in the afternoon, in preparation for the Enduro up there on 30th March.

But that just crosses off another excuse [s]"well I was last because I didn't know the course/area"[/s]

Well it's cloudy here and only 26c! First grey sky I've seen in months. Can't even remember the last time it actually rained. Something like .1mm in around 3 months or so.

Got out yesterday for quick hilly loop on the road bike, it was a bit windy but the sun was heaven!

Going to make the most of it with a quick blast on the MTB this morning and then a family ice cream ride this afternoon and then another longer road ride sunday.

shift work means 4 day weekend for me, 2-day weekend for munqe chick (and all road riding);
Thursday 2hour hill interval loop
Friday 2hr rolling loop, if I was properly into training would probably call it threshold, tempo or something.
Saturday same 2 hour hill interval loop but with MC
Sunday longer (65 mile IIRC) social/recovery-pace ride with MC, coffee+cake stop already planned, and home in time for her to watch the Wales match.
Monday, sit behind desk back at work and avoid stairs 🙂

And Afan Lodge booked for next set of our matching rest days, fingers crossed this weather holds we may even get dry(ish) trails.

Did Cannock yesterday thanks to an expertly planned use of last holiday and was up the High Peak today around Ladybower. Might have a go somewhere local in Derbyshire tomorrow but right now I am spent, and my car is a right mess..... and my bikes still in it 🙂

Road loop of the Forest of Bowland today, 43 miles & 6689ft of ascent that felt like it was ALL into the teeth of that BLOODY wind!
Ran out of gears at one point it was that bad.

Moved about 4 tonnes of concrete lintels and 9 big sheets of asbestos roofing + demolished a shed & associated crap, all taken to the tip.
Van back early in the morning so might try and fit a ride in if my body doesn't protest too much.
Its deffo protesting at the moment!

Alas my bike is not complete, so all I managed was to scoot (no chain) it around the garden to get the stans fluid spread out in the new tyres

It might be spring, but i've definitely still got "winter" legs, so a quick easy, 15miler around some local non-gnar routes:

Nice to be out on the old hardtail again 😉

Plan was a nice local 20 odd miles, some good riding bits, some good views, lots of feeling ace about being out and about in the sun and fresh air.

The reality is now stuck at home with sinusitis and feeling pretty rubbish.

Sometimes life isn't fair!

Further to my self pitying post above, just got back from a lovely 2-3mile walk with my daughter. Salvaged something out of the day and spent some quality time into the bargain. Every cloud......

No riding, but stalking Rocketdog at the Vic pub - amazing how you recognise a stw rider by their bike and top! Would have said hello, but didn't want to interrupt his conversation and I was too busy collecting sticks with my 2 yr old 😆

Took my boy out on his first full length Mendip trail ride, with assistance from a couple of mates from here.
He did really well, only one spill, all be it a big one for a first, he came back smiling and wanting more, even after 3,1/2 hours of riding.

Yesterday consisted of no riding outside, and today's ride ended 15km in when my rear mech decided to have some special time with my rear wheel. 6 spokes later, they parted company, and I had a nice walk/scoot home...

Going to have to make up for it next week.
