[Closed] Is this wheel finished and if so what rims for small jumps and drops?

I landed heavy on the front wheel, which it didn't like. Does this look repairable or is it finsished? If it is a gonner, can anyone recommend a sturdy rim for a wheel build that might be able to resist my ametuer heavy handed trail skills (or lack of)?

Take the rim off to see what shape it's in and whether it'll bend vaguely flat. If so, rebuild and ride ๐Ÿ™‚

Completely ****ed! I swear by Mavic rims and won't use anything else. Currently I use XM 819s for trail riding and they cope fine with being bashed off rocks by my lardy arse. I use EX 823s on my DH bike and they are nonsense strong, buy heavy. The 700 series are cheaper as they are non-UST, and should be of similar strength.

Chances are its a goner. As above you'll get a better idea if you take all the tension off the spokes and see what shape the rim is in.
But i would say its probably not going to be very straight. Then you'd have to bend the rim to get it straight enough to true. Which is ok in a get you home sense, but if you want to rag it, it will probably bend again.
If you are pasing through shropshire i'll take a look.
Other wise, As above mavic, 719 319 819

@Speshpaul, nice one for the offer but I'm based in Manchester. From what you're saying it's not going to be up to to taking a bashing in future anyway.

I'm looking at rims that will take a 2.35" tyre and be capable of general trail duties. I'll take a look at the above rims, thanks again for the suggestions.

That's a really pleasing shape, well done!

I'd definitely stick that on the garage wall as a trophy and get a new one...

I thought that, it has a nice wobbly symmetry.

I must get that bench varnished.
