Shoes look excellent value....but Shimano always come up small...so if you are a normal size 40 then you should be OK with the 41s.

I would get these cheaper pedals as lighter and less likely to bark your shins...

I did spot those, but was attracted to the others because I can still ride in normal shoes from time to time.

I've always had flats and there are times when I'm just going to cycle to the shops or whatever where I think cleats will get in the way.

Valid point, but you did ask for recommendations at cheapest price.

I have several bikes, mostly with Shimano SPDs....mix of old 525, newer 505, A515, 520, XTR and I do have a pair of 424s in a box that I hope my wife will try (the pedals, not the box).
Shimano are much longer lasting than Crankies, particularly if you service the Shimanos after a few months to take up the bearings bedding in and pack them with grease. My 525s have done well over 50k road miles.

Crankies do have their place....where else can you get a pair of pedals at 227g for approx £50 (new steel eggies with ebay Ti axles)?
