I noticed the other day that a lot of the paint has flaked off from near the steerer of my road bike fork. It's a CAAD8 (not sure what year) which I believe has alloy steerer and carbon legs. Basically is it going to fail and die or is it just cosmetic?
Put a Charlie the bikemonger sticker over it and carry on..
Tyre is perishing.
Looks cosmetic - I'd ride that ๐
Casting looks a bit rough and has oxidised a bit, hence it's blown the paint. Probably a lot more material here than structurally needed, you'll be reet.
Cool so long as it's not gonna fall off I don't mind a bit of cracked paint!

Yeah I've had them ages, will replace them when I can afford it!
Yeah just a bit of corrosion there. As long as the bonding to the carbon remains intact, not a huge issue.
My CAAD7 looks worse and still gets ridden.
Is that a wooden fork?!
You probably wooden ride it if it was!!!
Yew would be foolish to try such a thing

Given the temperature shown in that picture, I suspect it isn't just the tyre that is feeling it a tad chilly!
