I've just bought some new road wheels. Ordered a shimano freehub but the one on is shaped like I've not seen before. The spines on which the cassette sits as a pattern of two 'L' shaped follows by one straight, then two 'L' etc etc
Is that a shimano one?

Ditto some mavic ones. Thought my askiums had the wrong freehub on.

not campag, campag have a much deeper cut.
Looks like shimano, haven't seen the L shape before, but might save a few grams.
