Ok put this on fleabay for £1700.. no sale, now dropped the price gradually to £1450 collected.... 28 watching but no sale. Stock they are £3500... I know some shops are selling them at £2500 stock but with the DT Swiss E220 wheels, thomson stem and Hope Ltd edition brakes I would have though it was a damn good price.

Thoughts?
s/h so no warranty. That's worth 50% straight away in my book, esp on a carbon frame.
cash in hand, Based in Bristol
Sounds dodgy to me...
no-one wants it! sticking a sneaky link to it up in the bike forum probably isn't really going to help either, but good luck anyway 😛
I would probably buy it at that price if I had the money. Its probably just a case of being patient. I think you'll find the warranty is with the bike, not with the purchaser, so can't see a warranty issue.
GW I was simply asking a question if it was a fair price.
And yes Bristol is dodgy.. I am not 🙂
Stoner - I agree normally bikes are 50% off rrp........ SO
50% of £3500 rrp is £1750 + 50% of the upgrades (£500 wheels, + hope Ltd Ed brakes, Thomson Stem & Carbon Bars) around £700 new so £350 at 50% = £2100 being the total 50% price , even working on the sale price of £2500 in some shops for stock = £1250 + my upgrades 50% would be £1550...

No you won't! Warranty with original owner only. I believe Turner is transferable, but not aware of any others.
Scott is not transferable......... but arnt they only 12 months anyway?
Scott's warranty will only cover the first owner of the bike (so the manual says)
Second hand pricing is tricky, but a a rough guide, after a year it's about half it's original value, then 10% extra off for every year after that.
There are a lot of folks who are feeling very skint at the mo & so being patient may pay off.
even working on the sale price of £2500 in some shops for stock = £1250 + my upgrades 50% would be £1550
You should be using the £2500 price, just cos you paid more dosnt make it worth more esp if people can buy it reduced elsewhere. Also, most people wont consider 'upgrades' as adding that much £££ when deciding what a bike is worth, it just makes it a better option over something else. So i reckon if you actually need to sell it £1250 will do it.

Sounds about right to me. Also, it's a fairly specialist bike, so you're looking at a small target audience
With the Ebay thing, by all means have a BIN, but start the auction at 99p. It's gets people interested, sucks them in and then they keep getting emails when they are outbid. Set a reserve if you have to, but don't JUST have a BIN!
🙂
not quite getting why upgrades would not add value??
Your advert gives the strong impression that you need the money, and as it's not keenly priced anyway I should think most people are waiting for you to reduce it further. You've also given the strong impression that you don't want to post it or are intending to impose the hassle on the buyer, which is a big turn-off for anyone who isn't in Bristol.
Ebay ought to set your market value anyway, frankly. If 28 people who are vaguely interested in it think you're asking too much then you are. 🙂
I would take it off your hands, but I am having to downsize my fleet (1st addition to the P family will require time space and money)! I had to sell my Ransom earlier this year, but really enjoyed it and would get another. Mine was only an alu Ransom 40 so would have been quite a bit heavier, but was still great fun.
However I struggled with selling the Ransom as it doesn't seem a "fashionable" brand/bike. They don't come up often for sale and the reviews are not all brilliant. Mine went for 775e with a load of upgrades (wheels, gears, freshly serviced shock by Scott) etc and spares. Was pretty painful, but it did clear the credit card which had become more painful
Anyone after a "that blue" 16" 456???
You need to consider the cost of the bits you removed when upgrading. Although you might have spent £700 on new bits, the stuff you took off was probably worth about £400, so you can't really expect 50% of £700 above the basic price I would have thought.
TBH whether or not it's a fair price is irrelevant, you need to be looking for the market price
Personally - I'd split it & put it back on eBay
To sell it [as is] as a quick sale, I reckon it's worth £1k
Let's face it. you are from bristol so bike is probably stolen. I'll give you 300£ for it ;
Unfortunately, I think that the more expensive the bike/frame was in the first place (in the majority of cases- may not apply to real exotica eg Jones) the bigger the percentage drop in price you may have to accept.
Also, people who've upgraded tend to add on the cost of the upgrade, not the difference between the cost of the part being replaced and the upgraded part- if you've ogne from a £300 fork to a £500 one, at the most you should only be adding on £100- but as said above, in most cases the upgrades just make it easier to sell.
Any kind of calculations based on retail price tend to lead to heartache.
Anything carbon is hard to sell second hand.
Anything slightly out of the ordinary is hard to sell second hand.
Its a beautiful bike but I think you would be much better splitting it. I know its more hassle but there are a lot of very nice parts there that have plenty of value second hand and the frame is probably dragging them down a bit, cos its not everyone's cup of tea.
I got some ridiculous offers on an XL Meta 5. Once I split it I got more money for the parts than I was being offered for the full bike. The frame was harder to shift but in the end I got a few quid for it.
I have a similar bike and have had thoughts about selling it, but like you say its not 'fasionable'. i'd split it, thats what i'll do with mine (ransom LTD)
Fair enough, my point on postage was I am happy to at the cost i said but if anyone can find a cheaper method then they can do it for themselves .............. Yes I am wanting to sell quickly but not for peanuts
