Always had a 100mm hardtail, then had a 150mm full sus for a bit.
Currently I have a 100mm hard tail but fancying a full sus again. I fancy a giant reign but not sure if I can justify £2k at the mo.
for a lot cheaper i've seen shorter travel bikes like the camber etc.
I've got my eye on a bike that has 120mm front and 100mm rear.
Will there be much noticable difference between that and my HT.
everything is in 26 inches
and i'm mostly doing red graded trail centres 7stanes style.
There should be, if you're riding it right on terrain that justifies it.
But given you're asking the question, I expect not.
I rode all the red trails at Afan this weekend on my FS,a Giant Anthem with only 100mm travel.
It isnt much travel but Id been battered to bits if I`d done it on my hardtail.
So I`d say yes big difference.
"Is there much difference between HT and FS"

You sure you need to ask the question?
just not sure if it worth buying a new bike that is similar to the HT in the front travel department anyhoo.
Reckon though 4 inches at the back is gonna feel alot different to none.

I can tell a significant difference when I put a 2.1" rear tyre on my hardtail instead of a 2.25", let alone going from a hardtail to a full suspension with several inches of travel. I have been riding for many years though.
Suggest you hire/borrow/rent a full sus, then ride it back to back on the same trails as your hardtail and compare and contrast for yourself. Then maybe try a different shorter/longer travel full sus again, see how you like the feel of that.
there was a huge difference between the 150 FS and 100 HT that why i had the 'big bike' though was heavy.
Depending on frame & fork clearance, try putting some big tyres on (2.4"+) and see how much difference it makes. A lot cheaper than buying a new bike!
good point that i had forgot.
few years ago changed from 1.9s to 2.35 and theres quite a diffence when using a bit more of the tire as suspension.
current hard tail as got mavic 717xc so 2.1 limit but if i got the new full sus and put big tires on reckon that would be enough difference for me.
Hardtails all the way. If you set your tyres up right, then you get about 1.5inch of suspension travel anyway.
A tip for fine tuning tyre performance is to run your tyres soft, but add some golden syrup to the tyre after you've put it on the rim. The gloopyness of the syrup provides some compression & rebound damping - the more you add the slower they get! Ok, its not the same as 150mm of travel, but it'll certain see you right for most trail centres.
LOL @ golden syrup
