Oh yes. try here for starters.

Round here they have similar ones for gert long 4 and 8 person rowing boats too. AFAIK Cwmdown, FOD and Triscombe all use fully road-legal trailers, those are just the ones I have seen.

Any trailer that its road legal... Just add some bike racks. could be license issues if you passed your test after '97 though.

Lots of roofracks? Sure I could do 6, maybe 7 bikes on the roof of my Focus. Though the roof bar weight limit is 75 kilos I think!

A mate of mine can get 8 bikes over the tailgate of his Nissan Navara. Another 4 on the roof would be possible, if he owned a roof rack.

Edit - Like this:

Other than 750kg max for trailer + load, what other limitations are there?
even 10 45lb (DH) bikes is only about 200kg, so plenty of weight for the trailer?

We use the Burtech ones. Excellent! Have the 10-bike and 6-bike versions.

Four on the roof, four on the back must be possible on pretty much all but the smallest of cars.

good tow bar mounted rack and a sturdy roof rack should still be way cheaper than a custom trailer, although maybe not ideal if this is a regular use thing rather than a one off...

big old LWB sprinter or a Luton van?

Why does it need to be a custom trailer?

no need for a big ol' van, 14 complete DH bikes fit in any short wheelbase van

Presumably 10 bikes, youll have 10 ppl, so presuming all in 1 vehicle, not possible to mount them on a van/minibus or inside?
or is a hire vehicle and not allowed?
else 2/3cars with 'normal' roof/boot/towball carriers?

You'd never get 10 bikes + 10 riders in/on a sensible-sized vehicle. Standard minibus is actually only 9 seats (license issues above that). We use 9 seat minibus + 10 bike trailer or occasionally 6 bike trailer with a couple of bikes in the boot if necessary.

3.5T combined weight but that's probably not an issue unless you're also carrying a load of riders. Think that there's a limitation on length too but not certain of that.

I've been thinking of selling my trailer, just not done anything with it as yet....

600kg unladen, 1350kg mgw. Easily holds 10 bikes and kit.

Drop me an email for more info if you're interested. alaricdarmon@gmail.com

Tacho only required if gross train weight exceeds 3.5 tonnes and for hire or reward.

That's one of the reasons I didn't buy a standard Ifor Williams - for the same capacity as mine they're over 1 tonne unladen, 3.5 tonnes gross!

Rules get complicated in France if trailer max laden weight is greater than 500kg. We just got the maker to mark it as 499kg - still plenty of room for trailer + 10 DH bikes.

The limit is 750kg including load, so doable (that Pendle 12 bike trailer doesn't have brakes so must be under 750kg), but if you were to go on ebay and buy a flatbed trailer/stripped down caravan chassis then its likely they will be over this, its easy to buy a 3.5t trailer that will weight over 1000kg empty but it will not be obviously different to a trailer half the weight by the average person. (you use the weight stamped on the vin plate, doesn't matter if its not fully laden. you can get a new plate with lower max weight though)

You can tow 750kg behind anything up to and including a 3.5t van/minibus (so thats a max of 4250kg in total), with a smaller vehicle you can tow more, but the total is limited to 3500kg, so you can tow 500kg behind a 3000kg vehicle, 1000kg behind a 2500kg vehicle. But then you also have to make sure the max weight of the trailer (as written on the plate) is less than the unladen weight of the vehicle. Complicated ๐Ÿ™‚ The 2500kg vehicle could be 1500kg unladen which means the max trailer weight is 1500kg, but 2500kg+1500kg=4000kg so thats not legal on a post 97 license.
