I'm looking to get a commuter/general road bike. But I know nothing about road bikes so I did a bit of surfing yesterday and the best value for money bike looked to be the Ribble 7005 with a groupset upgrade.
Is there anything that you guys would suggest I also look at in the same 500-800 price bracket?

Dawes Audax Century SE available for bargain prices at Chamberlaine cycles in London. I got one for £650, steel frame, carbon forks, Tiagra groupset, mudguards (a bit naff) and pannier mounts should you fancy. The finishing kit is a bit naff, but is adequate. Looks lovely too.
