I did my single pivot DH bike and it was great, would I see the same increase in performance on my multi pivot four bar frame that I use for general DH tomfoolery?
I weight about 13.5 stone in my clobber and I'm a pretty aggressive rider and happy to do bigish drops and jumps. I 'king love rock gardens too!
Cheers

yes. definitely worth it.

Did the same with mine and improved the ride. My dhx felt dead prior to this and seemed to pack down all the time.

I dont know much else about giving you a technical breakdown of all the improvements i felt, but it made my sx ride nicer.

cheers biscuit. Packing down is the definitely the best way to describe the sensation I get.

I found pushing made my bike (at the time, a Nicolai DH Bike) better over rough stuff at speed but also found the high speed rebound would make it ping out of corners in an undesirable way. Despite returning it for a retune I still wasn't happy. Now I'm riding a bike with a better shock, (ccdb), I wouldn't bother with pushing again. They aren't as good as everyone says. I'd rather either have the less activeness of a standard fox or stump up the extra crash for a top end shock. Spending the extra money on tyres or a trip away is much better spent IMHO.

well, with my sx it felt shit, now it doesn't.

I dont think any tyres or trips away would have cured this.

And the price difference between pushing your shock and a new 'top end' shock is quite considerable dont you think?

Price difference between pushing and a top end shock maybe quite a lot but how about a vanilla r propedal coil shock? Decent (if basic) shock & fit for DH purposes, and getting it push tuned from new is a hell of a lot cheaper than 'refreshing' an old um. I spoke to a well known suspension tuner Friday (bought a rp23, for my trail bike), but did ask why they don't service air DHX's, and the explaination was short & to the point (& not complimentary).

I've had the Marz Roco RC on my 2006 Enduro pushed and it felt a lot better than a standard DHX 5 coil (I've got both). With the Pushed shock you couldn't tell the suspension was working, it just felt really smooth and planted on rocky trails.

Tempted to get the DHX done too as it's due a service

Sell the old shock and the difference is less. Yes it's still alot but still worth it.

Z1ppy, it's not an air can on my SX trail, it's the coil DHX. But I am considering a PUSHed Van R for my Prophet instead of the RP2 that's on there, just not sure I can justify, financially, a new shock and PUSH service...

Great feedback from all, thanks, regarding a new top end shock, sadly that's prohitibively expensive especially when you consider the frame is 3 years old and worth less than even a new 'ordinary' shock.

Based on the above and my own experience of PUSH on my DH bike I think I'll bite the bullet and get it done.

Cheers
James
