Punctures seem a more regular occurrence? Or perhaps not.

Definitely with road tyres, I generally put new ones on my commuter when I get my second puncture (normally a year or so after I put a new tyres on) - but then I just buy super cheap £7 tyres on sale from on-one...

Do they become less thorn, glass and sharp stone proof with age.My contis seemed real tough at first. A thousand or so miles later, they seem to be becoming thorn magnets(despite tough inner tubes).

It is time to change your rear tyre when...
...you can see the inner tube through the sidewall threads

+1

a friend of mine put a hole in a non-snakeskin schwalbe within 2 or 3 rides. Cue puncture every ride after with him refusing to buy a new tyre or try patching it, despite having skidded off almost all the tread

Perhaps I could just swop the tires around. On the other hand a more worn rear tyre might be faster.
