Road Safety Video[/url]
It would cost less than C£10k to put something like this together and get it out on social media... I know Tories closed the COI who used to produce this kind of stuff but surely DoT would have it in their remit?
I actually know the answer to this, because I was sent a letter by the (then) Tory transport minister Mike Penning a few years ago.
The DfT/govt/whoever don't need to do any campaigns about driving safely around cyclists because:
1. They've done one about not killing motorcyclists
2. Lots of councils offer bikeability. Some people who do bikeability will also be drivers. Therefore they're educating drivers on the vulnerability of cyclists.
That was his response, honestly. I don't know if he's so thick that he actually believes it....
A bit on here about that and how other european countries are adopting a minimum 1.5m overtaking gap.

I've seen 2 vids and a poster on safe overtaking widths in Scotland. I thought the more recent vid was UK wide but possibly not.
It was Scotland only dragon.
This was a Scottish Government initiative.
They need to make it more targeted - I can give them reg plates of a couple of repeat offenders for passing too close on my regular commute.

Something to do with the Niceway Code?
problem is when they do... someone moaned about a lady on a bike with no helmet, so the ASA banned it (and then overturned their own ruling long after the ad was pulled)

It's all well and good having videos like this but I'm sure most drivers know what they are supposed to do already. Most actually do, when they have time and can see the road in front but when they are delayed they seem think, sod it It'll be fine and try to squeeze past. Round here we have thees signs everywhere...

And, as I said, most drivers give you loads of room until they are delayed, then they take risks.
I nearly got knocked off my bike recently by an Aberdeen bus with a "Give Everyone Cycle Space" advert plastered all over it...
