After 28 great tech miles yesterday I clipped my bars on a fence and went over the bars. Main impact on the side of my head and shoulder.
No damage (visible) to my helmet

Up to the pub at Ringinlow (Norfolk arms - Matt Cullen and staff were great) ambulance to the Sheffield northern general hospital. CT scan on head and xray on shoulder. All clear
Stuff today and no memory of the incident but I'll be ok.

So thanks to the staff at the NGH and Ambulance staff, thanks to Schwalbes Ben Tompkinson for looking after me, thanks to the staff at the Norfolk arms

Do I need a new helmet even though no visible damage, I'd assume so

Followed by an ambulance, pretty sure you already know the answer

Yes.
You might have a crash replacement discount from the existing manufacturer - worth checking.

If you've lost memory then your head (ergo your helmet) must have taken a fare whack. I'd be buying a new lid.

Not worth risking it. If your questioning it then there will always be a worry the internal of the helmet has been compromised. Get a new one 👍

Smacked your head, went to hospital, no recollection of the event.

Yes, new helmet time. I'd say you've had your money's worth out of this one!

Good to hear you came out unscathed. NGH are great, a few friends work there and I’m always grateful for what the do (even though I’m not there as frequently as I used to be).

No-brainer (sorry) for a new lid, if your last one did the job as well as it sounds you could do worse that sticking with the same brand. I’m loyal to Giro for the same reason.

Helmet has just come home, each vent is packed with mud and the peak is snapped off. Bit bigger impact than I'd realised. Bike is fine thank god

At least that’s taken any ambiguity out of the decision, definitely new helmet time. Sounds like you’ve had your moneys worth from it though.

Yup, I had a similar impact a few weeks ago, no substantial damage to the helmet other than scuffs, but I was a bit of a mess and can't remember a dam thing about the actual crash or a bit of time after it.

I hit a small hip one handed (my fault) and I think I went OTB, used my head and left shoulder to stop - on hard pack - grazes to face, chin, knees, left shoulder, cut above eyebrow, cut nose, split lip / corner of my mouth and my right shoulder is still a bit tender, not sure why as it was un marked.

But long story short, I ordered a new helmet the next day.

Top tip, any grazes, cuts etc get some Tanamu balm on them, it heals them up super quick and helps with scaring
