Hi all, after some info, after cracking my frame I'm in the process of sorting out a warranty replacement / upgrade so I have to part with some cash.

Just wondering what charges HMRC, Royal Mail etc are going to add on top 🙁

Anyone any ideas??

IIRC its the charge (8%?) and VAT (20%) on the cost & shipping cost, RM add maybe £10 fee too?

If it's a genuine warranty there may be a way around that.

Depends what value the manufacturer puts on his customs declaration

You'll still get stung for VAT whatever

If you sent the old frame back and can prove it and also get the new frame marked as warranty replacement you won't get charged.

Or they might charge you but you'll be able to claim it back.

As ssstu says, if you make it clear it's bein repaired under warranty it should be exempt from customs duty as it's already been paid on the original import

if you send the old one back make sure you keep all your paper work as I still had to shell out charges and then claim them back
