tip, never ever bid until the last 3 seconds. It reveals your "hand" and there is always someone else out there with more money / more insanity to pay more than you.

why is it that roadie wheels, you can get a set weighing 1700g ish for about £100, yet a fixed/track wheelset for the sme price has a quoted weiht of 2.5kg!

is there anyone other than bontranger who make a, even reasnobly, lightweight wheel, FFS there arent even any moving parts other than the bearings?

Never mind, I know where to get them new for less anyway...Just found somewhere so seems you paid over the odds my friend, it is Ebay after all 😆

by about 8 quid too. Mine will come in a box, brand spanking new, warranty starting from zero not 2 and have no scratches.

build your own....?

but i think on a fixed the spokes are under greater strain. just have a poo before your ride. my fixed wheel wieghs around 25lb, old steel frame being the reason for this. still flys along at 35kmph on skinny tyres and some leg work.

You sound a little bitter over there - sorry man.

Glad you have found some 'cheaper and better' about 5 mins after losing out on the ebay hub - coincedence?

Anyway, £220 was my only, and top bid, I appear to be lucky (or not) tonight

Actually, I am sorry, with a few minutes hindsight I guess I sound like I am gloating, that wasn't my intention, please accept my apologies for that.

I'm not gloating either but, look at the Stiff website.

215 with postage.

Just glad I looked now...

...yeah I got it - thanks.

I was particularly after one with the heavy duty bolted axle (like the one on ebay) as I have a bolted one on my singlespeed and it feels really 'solid' - the QR one on my other bike seems less 'secure' in comparison, and thats on a hardtail - I have tried a couple of different QR's too. This one is for a Tracer build (which is taking forever now with the price hikes recently) and I wanted to have bolt on wheels at each end. So I am happy today.

Hope you get one sorted out soon - you could always share the link with all on STW - I do need a 20mm front too?

All the best

DT spoke calculator says.................

838g for open pro, shimano XT front hub and 32 1.8/1.5 spokes laced 3X.

none of those parts are exactly skinny, and im stil under half what some people are quoting for their wheel weights!
