... just ditch the redundent BB92 BB & use the chainset in a regular threaded bottom bracket frame with the correct outboard bearing RF BB???

ie: is the chainset axle the same, regardless of which BB system its being used with??

Yes - BB92 is the Shimano 24mm standard, so just fit a standard threaded outboard BB.
