Hi guys - sure this has been asked loads but Im building a trail hard tail bike for winter mainly ( while i cant get on the road bike as much ) and im banging my head over forks and wheels. i am thinking around the 120mm travel RS forks (again not sure which ones) but looking at wheels mostly they are 9mm QR and now im thinking is it cuz ppl off loading them and switching to 15's and 20mm axel style? is there anything wrong with 9mm QR or are they looked down on these days as not having the stiffness.
cheers
there is absolutely nothing wrong with 9mm QR.
I agree with MartynS, 9mm QR is perfectly good unless you are riding really heavy duty stuff...
Yup. But bolt-through forks are becoming the norm now so I think it's right to say that nonconvertible 9mm wheels are going to become less common and a bit harder to sell.
Thats great thanks guys, just got the feeling the 9mm was old hat and looked down on but clearly not the case.
15mm is a crock IMO
