As Marzocchi changed their manufacturing base earlier for OE forks than they did for wholesale forks, does anyone know a sure-fire way to tell the country of origin of any Marzocchi fork. I'm particularly interested in MX series forks, and not from a QA/QC angle as some might expect, but purely from a parts compatibility angle as I notice part numbers have changed on Suntour factory produced models.
I should add that I know that OE fork production apparently moved in 2004, with all production following in 2008 (?). But when age and original market of fork is debatable (e.g. 2003 and 2004 are visually similar, all 2006 on are visually similar, especially so when repainted and/or restickered) it doesn't give a definitive answer.
I should also add I am not asking for a particular fork to be dated, merely for how to identify country of origin of any MX I should chance across for sale.
Help!
