Spotted a mad bike on the way to work this morning. Anyone have any clues as to what it was?

Black single-speed with a huge rake, must've been 45' at least. Big fat tyre on the back like a motorbike tyre, and a logo like a letter 'S' in a circle. The logo on the frame was surrounded in flames, like an old hotrod.

(The other question of course is, "why"?!)

My sentiments exactly... and loudly did I mock our local pub landlord and riding buddy for owning such a creation.. til I had a go on it round town.. especially the swoopy roundabout section remeniscent of lagunas corkscrew.. the riding position is just so... well.. laid back

I almost wanted one for a bit afterwards.. I will probably settle for something a bit more stylish though.. like that cannondale cruiser that someone built up on here.. the one with the banana seat and ape hanger handlebars..

Yeah, that's it almost certainly. The flames were, uh, flame-coloured rather than purple and I don't think it had the chainguard (though I was driving past so I didn't get that good a look), but there can't be two bikes that look like that, shirley?

Cool, cheers guys.
